Dr. Gutierrez presented his CFIR-informed model for integrating standardized behavioral health screening into pediatric primary care through a plenary address at the Behavioral Health Management Forum in Chicago and a poster presentation at the American Academy of Pediatrics conference in San Diego.His project, “Implementation of Standardized Behavioral Health Screening in Pediatric Primary Care: A CFIR-Informed Workflow Model,” addresses the inconsistent use of validated screening tools in pediatric care, resulting in the risk of unrecognized behavioral health concerns.Guided by the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR), the model integrates the 17-item Pediatric Symptom Checklist (PSC-17) into existing clinic workflows with minimal disruption to daily operations. Pre-visit electronic screening, automated scoring, electronic health record integration, and clearly defined staff responsibilities support consistent screening, clinical assessment, referral, and follow-up during routine well-child visits.The proposed implementation targets screening completion in at least 80% of eligible visits for patients ages 5–17 within six months, while limiting increases in staff time to less than 10%. The model emphasizes earlier identification and timely intervention through a sustainable workflow designed for the demands of pediatric practice.
